Energy International Corporation contracted with supplier BLIC, GmbH, a global specialist in mobility management systems, to design, manufacture and implement an electronic fare collection system for water buses operating on Dubai Creek. The three-phase project included the improvement and upgrade of current facilities along with the installation of an automated fare collection system that integrated the marine mass-transit with the city’s rail, bus and taxi services. The system allows passengers to purchase and use the same electronic cards for all of Dubai’s mass transit and paid parking zones, eliminating the need to carry cash or have exact change for parking or fares. The project earned EIC’s Transportation Division a Certificate of Excellence Award from the Dubai Roads and Transportation Authority.
